Sheepskin Seconds
Sadly, these Gotland pelts were damaged during the fleshing/tanning process and have many holes, some thin leather, and other issues as you can see. I have been trying to find time for creative projects that would still make use of the gorgeous curls (you just can’t hide gorgeous Gotland – even with damage). Several have sold locally for pet beds. Perhaps you have a project in mind that would involve cutting up a pelt or want to dabble in leatherwork. I am hoping these can still be salvaged and used, even if they aren’t perfectly perfect as is. They are priced accordingly to help us rebound from back to back years of damaged pelts after many years of pelts from this tannery that were previously up to our standards.
If you are looking for a premium pelt, please take a look at our bark tanned pelts from a different tannery! They are absolutely amazing!!!
As we work toward best representing the Gotland breed here in North America, we must select only the top lambs & ewes to continue in our breeding program. Those who do not remain in our breeding program are sold as fiber animals, or market lambs and we believe in honoring the whole animal. Our Gotlands have amazing pelts with soft, lustrous wool. Their beauty is preserved by creating gorgeous pelts to be treasured for years to come, often used for home decor, baby strollers, play mats, pet beds, seat covers, motorcycle seats, saddle cushions, and wheelchair cushioning.
